After almost 7 years of continuous rule, the Moldovan Prime Minister, Vasile Tarlev, of the governing Communist Party of Moldova, resigned today. This, automatically, leads to resignation of the the entire cabinet of ministers.
The reason implied by both Prime Minister and President Voronin who has already accepted Government’s resignation is the need to “provide the opportunity to new people to contribute to country’s wellfare.”
Next, President Voronin, who was re-elected the leader of the Communist Party on Saturday, will propose a candidate for this position to the Parliament. Given that the Communist Party enjoys a majority in the Parliament, whoever the President will propose is most likely to become the next head of the new Government of Moldova.
